About ASM

Adiwasi Samta Manch (ASM) is tribal women led organisation working on capacitating marginalized communities to secure their basic rights and entitlements( water, education, health, shelter, skill development etc) and rights under pro poor Acts (MNREGA and Forest Rights Act) and welfare schemes and dignity

It is also working on the issue of gender rights of indigenous women and empowering them through Self Help Groups (on traditional agriculture produce and Non Timber Forest Produce) & capacity building programs.It is also working on the theme of environmental justice, biodiversity conservation and promotion and protection of traditional livelihood practices and culture. ASM is also engaged in improving education system for most underprivileged children and securing rights for Persons with Disabilities under PWD Act. It has expertise in grassroots actions, community mobilization, action researches ,organization building and collectivising, income generation programs, SHGs, rural development work, social actions, building & strengthening forum of marginalized ,evidence and data based people centric advocacy.

ASM believes and practices culture of transparency and participatory beneficiaries are well represented in decision making process .It also believes and practices peaceful and non violent means of social change

Legal Status

Adiwasi Samta Manch (ASM) is a social organization registered under undivided Madhya Pradesh Society Registration Act 1973 and has been registered on 25.7. 2000. SRA No.6207. The organization is also registered under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act(FCRA).FCRA No.32759003.The organization is also registered under Income tax Act and have 12 A and NGO-DARPAN.

Governing Board and Decision making structure

The apex decision making authority in the organisation is General Body followed by working committee. The three office bearers namely President ,Treasurer and Secretary are most active members and take decision on day to day basis .The Project Director/coordinator takes decision on day to day basis in consultation with office bearers .The senior staff and senior cadre also help Project Director and office bearers in decision making through providing inputs .Many of the operational decisions are taken in bi-monthly staff and cadre meeting with office bearers.

There are 7 governing body members.

Staff & volunteers: Currently there are 23 full time staff .There are 318 community volunteers.
